Mensheds Australia steps up to new role

After more than a decade looking out for the needs of individual Sheds, Mensheds Australia Ltd is stepping up to the role of representing Sheds nationally through their State associations.

Recent research by Men's Sheds of WA  found near total backing for local support via state associations rather than direct from a national body.

However, there was also strong support for having a national body to represent the Men's Shed movement, provide support and raise and distribute funding.

Currently, there is no national body that soley represents the State Men's Sheds associations.

Mensheds Australia has entered a short transition phase, prior to a formal re-launch and invitation to the State Associations. An announcement is expected before the end of June 2018.

As part of the transition, Trevor Taylor (the President of  Men's Sheds of WA) has been elected Chair. Long-time Directors  Ron Fox and Roy Powell remain on the Board.

The name and long history of Mensheds Australia will be preserved and honoured through the transition.

Mensheds Australia Ltd. is a not-for-profit Australian Public Company, Limited by Guarantee, dedicated to supporting and resourcing the Men's Sheds movement across Australia.

Using the Website

If you are looking for a shed near you go to the shed locator.  That will indicate nearby sheds and provide a contact for you. Note that all sheds have their own set of programs and activities. You may need to contact more than one shed to find one that offers what would suit your needs.

If you are looking to donate something to a shed, use the shed locator to find a nearby shed and contact them to establish whether they can make use of what you are offering. If you have something of general interest to sheds, contact the help desk.
