Shed Members show big improvements in health and well-being

The phenomenon of the mensheds continues to spread. In Ireland there are now more than 300 sheds and research carried out by the Dundalk Institute of Technology appears to mimic Australian results.  The Irish research showed that men who attended sheds felt happier at home, 97% felt better about themselves, 88% said they had access to health information and 74% had improved home lives.  The survey was carried out between May 2012 and January 2013  and involved members of 52 Irish sheds.

According to the author of the research, Dr Lucia Carragher, another important outcome of the research was the role mensheds played in fulfilling "the fundamental human need to belong"
